Making Models: Wooden Blocks

Designed to introduce the concept of scientific modelling, this resource has students make observations of a simple wooden cube that has labels on five of the six faces. The students then discuss the patterns that they infer and develop a model that allows them to predict what the sixth label could be.

This activity helps students understand the power of scientific modelling and its key role in the scientific process.
