Finding the Top Quark
Using energy-mass equivalence and conservation of momentum, this activity allows students to calculate the mass for one of the fundamental particles of nature; the top quark. This activity uses real-life data from the Fermilab laboratory. A 30-minute video is included in the download files.
Intended Audience: Senior High (Gr 11-12)
Lesson Topics: Energy, Momentum, Relativity
This individual lesson plan is part of the Beyond the Atom: Remodelling Particle Physics lesson compilation.
