This resource has classroom activities that explore various aspects of quantum physics: the double-slit experiment, wave-particle duality, the quantum nature of electrons, interpretations of quantum physics, and technological applications.
Investigating the Nature of the Electron
This is a hands-on, guided inquiry activity where students model the double-slit experiment using cups and sand. They also model it using transparencies with waves printed on them. Students build up detailed models of classical waves and classical particles, ultimately seeing that electrons don’t fit into either model.
Further Investigation of Wave-Particle Duality
This activity explores the concept of wave-particle duality in depth. Students answer various mathematical and conceptual questions.
